Fire weather conditions are expected to increase in the Houston- Galveston region including Walker, Waller, Montgomery, Liberty, Chambers, Brazoria, Fort Bend, Harris, Galveston, Matagorda, Wharton, Colorado, and Austin Counties. Potential for wildfire activity has been forecasted beginning today and progressing into the weekend. An abundance of dry fuels and elevated fire weather, including higher wind speeds and low humidity levels, can potentially support wildfire ignition. Any fires that ignite under these conditions will be difficult to control and may outpace firefighters’ suppression efforts.
